Healthy recovery through Active Development in our regions - 12WS21459
Information
As the COVID-19 crisis continues to deepen its effects on society and the economy, European policy-makers have started to develop recovery strategies to address the socio-economic damage caused by the pandemic and to build a more resilient and healthier society. Sport and physical activity have become strategic sectors in this, using their broad social engagement to help integrate the sustainable economic and social development of our regions with the development of healthier and more resilient lifestyles.
The smarter vision of Active Development (which integrates sport into regional development strategies) fits the needs of citizens in a (post-)COVID-19 period in which prevention, taking care of health, and the development of a sustainable economy are key principles in building a better society. Through debates and presentations of best practice and in line with the Joint Action Plan between the European Committee of Regions and the European Commission, the seminar builds on the concept of Active Development, aiming to inspire much-needed transitions: from healthcare to care for health and from carbon-based consumer economies to cleaner, greener and more sustainable lifestyles.
