Information

This interregional European workshop aims to showcase innovative regional initiatives from different European regions and cities that are striving to green their economies and societies at the regional and local levels and are working towards achieving the green transition. An introductory word will be given by Ms Birgit Honé, Minister for Federal & European Affairs and Regional Development of Lower Saxony. Lower Saxony is dominated by rural areas but also encompasses major cities. The way regional and urban development is anchored in green deal funding will be shown. Lower Silesia will show the lessons learnt from the territorial just transition plans for its region. The Abruzzo Region will show its efforts and programme to develop soft mobility connected to the national and regional railway network, and also aimed at developing sustainable tourism. Northern Netherlands will show how local and regional authorities will engage with its citizens and foster participation with regard to climate adaptation. A keynote from the European Commission is foreseen.
