Information

The aim of this information session is to raise awareness of the added value that connected cycling and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) have in relation to the demand for bike infrastructure all over Europe. At a time when the EU is attempting to achieve a modal shift to sustainable transport, in order to fulfil its commitments on CO2 emissions reductions and to pave the way towards the recovery, cycling has proven to be a major solution to these challenges and to support the green transition at the regional and local levels. The Bicycles and ITS (BITS) project showcases how connected cycling can help boost cycling infrastructure by developing data-sets and standards for routing and travel planning, by including active transport in MaaS initiatives and by using a better multi-modal approach to urban transport. The BITS project is led entirely by the cities and regions and is a clear example of how investing in ITS and cycling infrastructure means investing in sustainable mobility!
