Information

To mark the 20th anniversary of the #EURegionsWeek, Dijon Metropole, its partner EDF, and Brussels City will host a workshop on RESPONSE, a Horizon 2020-funded project with a citizen-centred approach to make Positive Energy Districts (PED) a reality. Based on the co-construction of innovative solutions, the exchange of good practices and collective intelligence through public-private partnerships and citizen engagement, RESPONSE is a great illustration of European Cohesion, with its 53 partners from 13 countries!

This workshop on "A fair energy transition: developing Positive Energy Districts in deprived areas" will focus on the energy transition, its social dimension and the integration of local communities. Positive Energy Districts have the potential to turn deprived districts into liveable and valued areas through the better involvement of stakeholders and citizens, reduced energy poverty rates, better local shared spaces and improved air quality.

This is the unique feature of the RESPONSE project: whereas most PEDs are implemented in newly built neighbourhoods, Dijon and Brussels are developing major collective self-consumption operations in old, deprived areas. The objective of this session is to open a discussion on tools to empower citizens who are not already involved in climate change and on major challenges encountered by implementing Positive Energy Districts in deprived areas.
